Happiness is in your mind

Simple and profound truths are specialties of this Buddhist nun. Her message? Happiness truly resides in our own hearts and minds. The nun asks us three questions: Are you having a good day? Why? Tomorrow, would you prefer a good day or a bad day? She teaches that we cannot put our happiness at the whim of other people and circumstances. If we want to be happy, we must ‘stop outsourcing our happiness to others’ and cultivate a source of inner peace.

In the video below, a TEDx talk was given at a TED conference-style event, and we meet Gen Kelsang Nyema. In it, Gen will talk to us about how to build a more peaceful life through her Buddhist teachings.

You’re probably already familiar with meditation and how it can be used for relaxation and concentration. But did you know that it can also be very effective for better sleep quality?

Meditate before bedtime. The primary condition for a good night’s sleep is having the body in a state of relaxation. Meditation quiets the mind, slows down the heart rate and breathing, and reduces cortisol levels in the body, which is the stress hormone.

Several studies have already shown that in the long term, meditation has excellent positive effects on sleep quality. And remember, meditation can be a simple exercise that can be done lying in bed for just five minutes.

Some consider fear as a natural bodily response, while others say it’s a limiting belief. The correct answer is definitely the first one.
There are moments when this fear reaches levels where our only option is to feel anguish. And embracing this feeling is the first step to get through it.
The fear of making mistakes and perfectionism go hand in hand and can be significant enemies of your mental health.
Our emotions are automatic reactions to the experiences we go through, and what defines what we feel in a given situation is our own life history.
