In the past, philosophers believed it was a gift reserved only for a small group of people. However, over time, thanks to psychology and neuroscience, this notion was replaced by the idea that creativity is a skill that can be developed by anyone willing to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, theorists define creativity as encompassing skills like flexibility, originality, and divergent thinking \u2013 that is, not going along with the crowd and being able to think for oneself \u2013 applied to the process of inventing something different and never before attempted.<\/p>\n<p>How do creative people come up with great ideas? Organizational psychologist Adam Grant studies creative individuals: thinkers who dream up new ideas and take action to bring them into the world.
